For my family, this spring weather means backyard fun, walks outside and hopefully some great hikes with the kids – but it also means we are at a greater risk of contracting Lyme disease.
Lyme is widespread – approximately 300,000 cases per year – especially here in the Northeast. But it often goes unreported and undiagnosed – and simply checking for ticks is not enough to protect our children from this disease.
I’m calling on Congress to fund research to improve the reporting and diagnosis of Lyme disease and keep our families safe. Will you join me?
With a stronger effort from Congress to stop the spread of Lyme disease, we can enjoy time outdoors with our families without the fear of contracting Lyme.
Thank you for your action,
Kirsten [Gillibrand]
