I am so proud of my 100% pro-LGBT equality rating during my tenure as Congressman.
And like you, I’m thoroughly disgusted by the recent laws passed in Mississippi and North Carolina that explicitly legalize discrimination against the LGBT community.
It’s important that we all recognize in these moments that we must redouble our efforts to make sure every American is afforded equal rights.

My opponent didn’t support marriage equality until it became law in Illinois. He even previously stated “I believe marriage is between a man and a woman.” And he opposed the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. In his first term, unlike my 100% score, he had a lousy 35% rating.
Unlike my opponent, I always have and always will support the LGBT community.
That’s why I’m taking a stand against these horrible, discriminatory laws, and asking you to join me by signing our petition.
