Friend,
Friday's announcement of 12 weeks of paid family leave in New York State is a tremendous victory for working families. But for too many new dads, there is a perceived stigma against their actually taking leave to care for a baby, or a sick relative.
As a parent to two little boys, I know the pressures new dads feel all too well. When the office is wired directly to your smart phone, it’s hard to take advantage of family leave policies even when they do exist.
Later this month, I am bringing leading thinkers in this field to discuss the cultural and business factors working against fathers taking leave, and how we can improve the availability and uptake of family leave for them.
I hope you can join us for Fathers and Family Leave: Making it Work on April 26 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Museum of Modern Art’s Cullman Education Building (4 West 54th Street).
You can see more details about the panel on my website at
www.garodnick.com, and you can register to attend this free event at

Please feel free to forward this email to all the super-dads in your life, whether or not they've taken family leave (and to anyone else who believes that having dads take family leave helps moms, and everyone else). If you have any questions about the event, or any other issue, you can call my office at 212-818-0580.
Hope to see you there!
Best,
Dan
