Republicans in the House have introduced a bill that would allow employers to fire single mothers.
Right now, the government can step in if your employer fires you for being pregnant. But this bill would allow conservative employers to discriminate against any employee who has kids outside of what they define as a "traditional marriage" — whether they're a single mom, a gay couple with kids, or an unmarried straight couple.
This bill isn't just ridiculously offensive — it's also dangerously harmful to women who need our support, not condemnation.
Donna Edwards, our candidate for the U.S. Senate seat for Maryland, understands this all too well — because she's a single mom. That's why she's calling on congressional Republicans to reject this bill.
