Lucas,
Last month in his address to Congress, Pope Francis shined a spotlight on the need for courageous action on climate change. As he’s said in the past, “Leaving an inhabitable planet to future generations is, first and foremost, up to us.”
Seeing the statistics, it’s easy to feel hopeless about climate change – to feel that we’ve passed the point of no return on limiting carbon in our atmosphere, and that ever-increasing extreme storms, droughts and heat waves are just inevitable.
That’s not true. We already have one plan to start tackling this problem: President Obama’s Clean Power Plan, a historic action to set national limits on carbon pollution from power plants.
Republicans want to block this groundbreaking plan, and we have to push back. I need you with me on this. Will you add your voice to urge Congress to support the Clean Power Plan?
Powerful special interests want us to believe climate change is a hoax, that any reasonable action to address climate change would kill jobs.
But I, for one, refuse to accept that harmful pollution is the only way to grow our economy. What’s good for our environment can also be good for business.
It’s time to take bold action to protect our planet – and that starts with President Obama’s Clean Power Plan.
We can take action now, together. Please join me in taking action to stop climate change:
Add your name to tell Congress to support the Clean Power Plan.
Thank you for speaking out on this.
