You may not know us, but you have probably heard of our son and former
Navy SEAL, Chris Kyle. His story is now well known after writing the #1
Bestseller, "American Sniper" and the release of the highly
acclaimed movie, "American Sniper."
Do you remember when "American Sniper" came out and all of these
people on the Left started criticizing our son and others who serve in
the military?
Well we do!
We remember all the hateful things they said about a man who served with
honor and who only wished he could have saved more of his men. Chris was
unyielding in his defense of freedom and he made the ultimate sacrifice
while taking care of fellow veterans attempting to reacclimatize to civilian
life. We as a family know the sacrifice and cost of protecting our way of life.
Sadly however we believe our nation is forgetting the men and women who
protect us every day. You don't believe us?
Think of Memorial Day.
Memorial Day is the day that we, as a nation, are supposed to remember
the great men and women who have died defending these freedoms. Instead,
Memorial Day is now thought of by many people as the start of summer,
where barbecues and swimming pools are more important than what the day
really stands for — Remembrance of sacrifices defending our freedoms.
That's why we want to bring Memorial Day back! This is our chance
to take this sacred holiday back and make it the day of remembrance it
was meant to be.
The American Veterans Center puts together The National Memorial Day Parade —
the nation's largest remembrance of those who have died defending our
freedoms.
There will be thousands of participants and active duty military personnel
walking in the parade. They will be walking in the parade in honor of
their buddies who never made it home. The men and women that will never
hug their family again, see their child grow up, or get to tell their
parents just one last time that they love them.
When Chris was killed tens of thousands lined the roads that carried his
casket to his final resting place. We want to see that again in Washington
— hundreds of thousands of citizens lining Constitution Avenue waving
flags to show the families of the fallen that our nation will always remember
what their loved ones did for us.
So, what are you doing for Memorial Day?
I hope you take a moment and consider supporting the American Veterans Center or take a moment out of your Memorial Day to remember those who never
made it home. Also, to remember just how truly fortunate we are to have
people willing to sacrifice their lives to defend our nation and our way of life.
Thank you for your consideration and for helping us honor Chris and all
those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Regards,
Wayne & Deby Kyle
