BUILD MORE SHELTERS

Dear Lucas,

With its ample dog runs, off-leash park hours, and pet daycares seemingly on every other block, New York City is a pretty pet-friendly town. Sadly, the picture isn’t as pretty for the city’s neediest animals—those still waiting for homes. This is exemplified by the city’s animal sheltering system: While Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island each have their own full-service municipal shelters, Queens and the Bronx—home to nearly 3.6 million people!—have only “animal receiving centers.”

This Monday, May 4 , we hope you will join the ASPCA, Council Member Paul Vallone and Council Member Corey Johnson in downtown Manhattan for a rally to demand better for animals in all boroughs . We’ll be calling on the Mayor and City Council to secure funding in the 2016 Executive Budget to build full-service animal shelters in Queens and the Bronx. We need you there beside us. Rally for Full-Service Animal Shelters in Queens and the Bronx

Monday, May 4, 2015
11:50 A.M. to 12:45 P.M.
Steps of City Hall
The event begins at noon, but we recommend arriving a few minutes early.

Free to attend! Every homeless animal across New York City deserves the chance to find their forever family or be reunited with their owner, regardless of borough—and we need your voice to help make this a reality.

Your attendance on Monday can make a huge difference for the city’s animals . We hope to see you there—and please forward this email to your New York City friends!

PS: To learn more, we encourage you to read a blog post on this important issue by ASPCA President and CEO Matt Bershadker.
