I've come across a lot of shocking numbers in my research, but this one floored me: one in five female college students is sexually assaulted.
It's time to put an end to this epidemic. That's why I'm proud to stand with Senators Gillibrand and McCaskill as they lead the bipartisan effort to end sexual assault on our nation's college campuses. Now, they need help showing their fellow senators that this is a national priority. Will you join me to let Congress know you support the bipartisan Campus Accountability and Safety Act?
Yes, I'll take the next step toward ending sexual violence at our colleges and universities.
FACT: 95% of these attacks go unreported. Only 10-25% of students found "responsible" for sexual assault are expelled. Attackers are more likely to graduate while survivors drop-out.
The Campus Accountability and Safety Act would work to change that by increasing individual campus accountability (especially that of athletic departments and other campus groups), fostering increased collaboration between campus and local authorities, and establishing new support resources for survivors.
It's time for campus sexual assault survivors to get real justice. Add your name to help support survivors and hold our nation's schools accountable for the safety of their students.
Yes, I'll sign.
Thank you for standing with me and our women leaders as they fight to end campus sexual assault.
Best,
