Dear Lucas,
It’s Pi Day, one of my favorite days of the year! Pi is what mathematicians call an “irrational number,” which
is very different from the “irrational numbers” you usually
hear about in Washington.
For example:
- The Koch brothers’ network is planning to spend $889 million between now and the 2016 elections -- that’s crazy, but it’s not mathematically irrational.
- Outside interest groups spent more than $1 billion on the 2014 elections. It’s nuts to expect middle class families to compete with that, but, again, only “irrational” in a non-math sense.
- 198 Democratic seats in the Senate and House are up for election in 2016. An irrational person might think we could hold those seats without your grassroots support, but...well, you get the idea.
Here’s the last important number for today, and it’s rational in every way you can think of: $5. That’s how much I’m asking from you right now to help support our MVPs in 2016. Think you can help us out?
Thanks for your help,
Al
P.S. One final Pi Day note -- my wife Franni makes a mean apple pie, and
we’re sharing her recipe with everyone who steps up to
contribute $5 or more to our MVPs.
I promise, you’re going to want to try this recipe. So
give $5
and get baking!
