You know our system is broken when some colleges and universities are more likely to expel students for cheating on their homework than for committing an act of sexual assault.
That’s why I recently joined a bipartisan group of senators in announcing the Campus Accountability and Safety Act – to ensure schools protect their students and rid their campuses of sexual predators. Since then, I’ve been floored by the support this bill has received across the country.
Believe me, my colleagues in Washington hear us – now we have to keep pressuring Congress to pass this bill immediately.
I’m looking for 30,000 more supporters to sign on by Wednesday – it’s an aggressive goal, but with your help we can send an undeniable message. Will you tell Congress to act now to end campus sexual assault?
It’s dangerously backward: Our current system rewards colleges and universities for keeping campus sexual assault in the shadows, and our culture too often lays the blame on survivors.
I know this matters to you as much as it does to me, but it’s been broadly ignored for too long. With your help now, we can ensure Congress addresses campus sexual assault once and for all.
The Campus Accountability and Safety Act would hold schools accountable for facing this problem head-on. With 30,000 signers by Wednesday, we can keep the pressure on Congress to pass this bill immediately. Will you be one of them?
Thank you for standing with me on this critical issue.
