MORE WOMEN & MOTHERS

Hi Lucas,

After a long day on the floor of Congress or even just turning on my TV in the evening, it's startling to see the lack of voices of women and mothers — especially those of color.

We need to have serious discussions about our communities all across the country — especially those that have been historically overlooked or feel left behind. Communities where there are not enough jobs. Where young people feel a sense of hopelessness because of a lack of opportunities. And where people feel like they don't have allies in the fight for progress.

That's why I'm partnering with EMILY's List in a campaign to make sure we have more women and mothers in Congress. Will you add your name to join our fight?

EMILY's List knows as well as I do that women bring unique perspectives to the table. And they know why it's important to elect more of them if we want to make progress for all American families.

As a single mother of a black son, I worry deeply about the issues of race, education, economic opportunity, and justice that impact our communities. And as a woman, I worry about issues like equal pay for equal work and about the rights guaranteed by Roe v. Wade being chipped away.

Here's the thing — we can make a difference. These issues could be addressed head on by ensuring more mothers, more women of color, and more women of diverse economic backgrounds are in seats of power.

Will you join EMILY's List and me in the effort to make sure more women and moms are empowered to run for office — and win? Add your name:
