FIGHTING FOR VOTING RIGHTS

Lucas,

Earlier this year, I traveled to Selma with President Obama and civil rights pioneers to pay tribute to the activists who sacrificed blood, sweat, and tears to ensure equal voting rights for all Americans.

The experience was a powerful reminder of how critical our fight is to protect equal access to the ballot box. Our democracy is strongest when everyone’s voice is heard. But right now, the strength of our democracy is in real jeopardy.

Please join me in calling on my colleagues to fully restore and improve our Voting Rights Act immediately.

In 2013, a Supreme Court decision struck down a key provision in the Voting Rights Act, which swung open the door for Republican-led states to slash early voting programs and pass unnecessary voter ID laws – all in an attempt to suppress voters who would vote against them.

It’s wrong, and we can stop this – but only if we raise our voices.

Stand up and be heard, Lucas. Sign our petition here:

Many thanks,

Elizabeth
