Chris Kyle is an American Hero.

Seth Rogen and Michael Moore are an American disgrace.

Richard will you sign my American Heroes petition and show your support of both late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle and the rest of our men and women in uniform?

Let me explain: the film "American Sniper" -- the life story of the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle -- has struck something in our country.

With conservatives and average Americans, it's a chord of patriotism, respect, and gratitude for the actions he took and the sacrifice Chris Kyle made.

With liberals however, Navy SEAL Chris Kyle's story struck a deep nerve. It exposed how they don't know or understand our military -- nor do they care to...

Michael Moore went so far as to call military snipers "cowards" in their work protecting American troops, and actor Seth Rogen compared the film to a Nazi propaganda reel.

Moore and Rogen have never spent a day in their lives thinking about anyone other than themselves.

I celebrate Chris Kyle's life, not just as a SEAL, but as a man -- he was not a coward, unlike Seth Rogan and Michael Moore who hide comfortably behind their words because of the freedom Chris Kyle helped secure for them.

In 2004, I served as a commander of Special Forces in Fallujah. It was the same year Chris Kyle was stationed there.

From my experience I can tell you, "American Sniper" is not a military documentary. It goes deeper into the emotions and Kyle's experience back home. The trauma of his service, and I think that part was dead on.

For me, a lot of times when I was home, I wasn't really home. I was always thinking, "What could I do to better prepare the troops for battle?" or "What could I do to bring everyone home?" or "Am I overlooking something?"

That is an enormous responsibility, and I shared with Chris that feeling that it was my job to defend my country and bring every last man home.

Chris's story is critical because it's a story about wounds: physical wounds, emotional wounds, and the sacrifices of the troops that put themselves in harm's way.

And the American people must know the truth.

War is not pretty. From my perspective as not only a former SEAL commander and a father of children serving in the military, I understand sacrifice. War is always the last option, but when we go to war, we go to win.

The liberal Hollywood criticism of Chris Kyle's character is absolutely despicable.
