Dear Lucas,
There are days when it seems that the Republicans must be holding a contest
to see who among them can be the most insulting toward women.
181 Republicans are doing their best to cover themselves in ignominy by
limiting and degrading women’s health care. By the end of this Congress,
one or two Republicans will truly stand apart from the rest -- but I can’t
even imagine what kind of bad ideas they’ll propose between now and then.
The new Republican Congress has already moved to limit women’s access
to health care. We can’t afford to turn back the clock on women’s
rights -- stand up to the new GOP majority and sign our petition.
It is absolutely baffling how a party that claims to value personal freedom
wastes no time trying to insert itself into women’s personal medical
decisions. I think it says a lot that the GOP is willing to go to the
mat for all kinds of personal freedoms, but they draw a hard-and-fast
line when it’s a woman trying to exercise those freedoms.
American women do not need Republicans in Washington telling them how
to make their own health care decisions.
It is 2015, and we cannot afford to take a step backwards when it comes
to women’s rights.
Join me and tell the GOP to stop trying to limit women’s access to
health care.
Thank you.
Nancy
