Lucas,
Lately it seems that terror and gun-violence fill the news. For too long,
this problem has been growing and from coast-to-coast, in every corner
of America, gun violence is affecting us all. It’s time for change.
Mass shootings, daily street violence, negligent shootings, suicide- gun
violence can bring tragedy in far too many ways. That’s why Keith
Wright is leading the way to bring together fellow lawmakers, activists,
community leaders and survivors to create a
national Gun Violence Awareness Month as a way to shine a light on this pervasive
problem touching all of our lives.
Right now, New York is the only state in the nation to designate a month
to focus on ending gun violence. But gun violence needs to be addressed
at the national level as well. Keith Wright has asked Congressmen Charlie
Rangel and Hakeem Jeffries to introduce a bill in Congress that would
designate June as National Gun Violence Awareness Month.

We can do better for our communities. We
must do better. Now is the time.
