We’ve reached a new low, Lucas. Republicans in the Senate just passed
a measure that would gut the President’s Affordable Care Act and
defund Planned Parenthood.
There are many things I don’t understand about the right-wing agenda,
but this has got to top the list.
The Affordable Care Act provides health insurance to 17.6 million Americans,
and Planned Parenthood provides critical health care services and information
to 2.7 million men and women.
By putting forth measures to repeal the Affordable Care Act and strip
Planned Parenthood of government funding, the GOP is effectively telling
millions of Americans -- and especially women -- that their access to
affordable health care doesn’t matter as much as the Republicans’
quest to appease conservative special interest groups.
Stand with me and tell Republicans to STOP trying to repeal the Affordable
Care Act and defund Planned Parenthood.
The GOP has gone too far over the past few months. They claim fiscal responsibility
is a tenet of their party, and yet cutting off Planned Parenthood would
actually increase spending by $130 million over 10 years.
Not to mention, if Planned Parenthood loses funding, as many as 650,000
women would lose access to preventive care, cancer screenings, STI testing
and contraception.
Republicans have made it very clear that standing with special interest
groups and a fringe minority takes precedence over the healthcare of millions
of Americans.
I’m disappointed and disgusted. Join me in demanding that Republicans
quit trying to dismantle the Affordable Care Act and Planned Parenthood.
