Social Security Disability Insurance benefits are facing a crisis. Without
swift action from Congress, the disability trust fund will run out as
soon as 2016.

If Republicans in Congress get their way, next year 11 million people
that rely on disability will see a 19% cut to the benefits on which they
rely. The targets of this cut are largely workers with disabilities who
will be unable to make ends meet without Social Security. Many are unable
to work at all. This is their only way to pay for basic needs and we can’t
abandon them.
There’s a simple solution to this impending crisis: reallocating
taxes that are already funding the larger Social Security fund. Let’s
make sure this easy fix is put into place and protect one of our nation’s
most vulnerable populations.
