BOOKS, AUTOGRAPHS & MAPS
Highlights of the April 15 auction include fine color plate books on the theater from the Estate of William W. Appleton. Autographs feature documents by American Presidents with three signed by George Washington. Fine binding offers a superb Doves binding and a set of the Nonesuch Dickens. Maps include an 1808 screen-size map of Japan, Hondius’ Nova Totius Terrarum Orbis, and others. Livre D’Artistes is highlighted by a copy of Picasso’s 1942 Eaux-Fortes originales pour des Textes de Buffon and the first three years of the periodical Xxe Siècle. Literature features high-spots of the Romantic poets, including first editions of Byron, Keats, Shelley, Jane Austen’s Emma and a good run of modern literature.

Property from the New York City Bar Association comprises material from the era of the American Civil War, rare Confederate imprints, Colonial, Federal and Western Americana, a large group of historical New York material, early printed books and English and foreign Law.
