Did you see what White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough had to say
at J Street's annual conference? After criticizing PM Netanyahu and
promoting the Obama administration's weak foreign policy record, he
called for an end to the
Israeli
occupation of the West Bank.
This is appalling, but we've seen this sort of rhetoric from the Obama
administration before. Its continued hostility to Israel starts at the
top. Remember when President Obama called for reinstatement of the 1967 borders?
Not only is McDonough's declaration disturbing, but also factually
inaccurate. The only thing "occupied" for more than 50 years
is Israel, itself!
We must call on Denis McDonough to apologize for his statements and re-affirm
the United States' support for Israel.
