I just wanted to take a moment to share
our first TV ad of the general election.
As the father of two young boys, and someone who relied on Pell Grants
to get through college, the fight to improve our education system is personal.
I wouldn’t be Mayor of Redlands and a candidate for Congress if
it wasn’t for the educational opportunities I had growing up in
San Bernardino County. Our campaign is about making sure every child has
that same shot at success.
Access to education needs to start early, and funding for early childhood
education is key.
No child should be denied an opportunity to succeed because of their socioeconomic status.
And when it comes to higher education, we need to make sure that every
child who wants to go to college or a job training program has access
to the grants and loans they need to make it happen.
As someone who is still paying off student loans, I understand how daunting
it can be to take out those loans. No young person should leave school
drowning in debt that prevents them from starting a family or buying a home.
This is what’s at stake. But with your continued support, we can
make educating our children a priority again in Washington. They are counting on us.
Thanks for all that you do to make that possible.
Pete
