It is so important that we win this election. Over the last few days, I've been reminded why.
We've kicked off our Kitchen Table Tour. Gracious Floridians have been opening their homes to me to talk about how families are hurting under Rick Scott's economy.
On Monday morning, I met J.M. and Marge in Holiday. Marge's homeowners' insurance costs and utility bills have been skyrocketing -- she's had to make some tough choices at the end of every month.
In Sarasota, I talked with Emily and her daughter, Michelle. Because of property insurance rates going up, Emily's rent has increased 20 percent. She's had to put off saving for college to afford the bills.
Michelle's a smart girl; I could tell. She wants to go to college, but because of Scott's cuts to Bright Futures scholarships, she may not be able to afford it.
On Tuesday, I met Gale, in Hollywood. Gale's a widow -- she works hard to make ends meet. Her oldest son lives with her and their utility bills are really high, but her son can't contribute much because of the quality of jobs available.
Rick Scott has promised more jobs -- but Gale's son isn't seeing them.
These are the kinds of stories we have to keep telling over the next 34 days.
