Lucas--
We just got word that my opponent has put in another $250,000 of his own money. That makes it almost a million dollars total that he's spending to attack me and fund his negative campaign. The polls show this race is tightening, and Bruce Blakeman's pockets just keep getting deeper. I need you to dig just as deep. Please contribute $25 or more right now so he can't buy this election.
Bruce and I faced off for the first time today in the taped News 12 debate. You'll see for yourself when it airs on Wednesday night how we compare on the issues, but here are a few quick highlights:
- Asked if we support raising the minimum wage, I said absolutely. Bruce didn't answer, saying it's a "non-issue in New York." Contribute $25 or more if you think differently.
- Asked if we support same sex marraige, I said absolutely. Bruce didn't answer, saying only that it's already legal in New York. Contribute $50 or more if you think we should have marriage equality in all 50 states .
- Asked what we would do to address soaring college costs, I laid out my plan to increase aid, expand tuition tax breaks for parents, and relieve the student debt crisis. Bruce said maybe college should only be three years long instead of four. Contribute $100 or more if you think I have the better plan.
That's a good glimpse of what we're up against in this race: a wealthy self-funder with almost $1 million to spend and nothing but negative things to say. I hope you'll watch the full debate on Wednesday night at 7:30, and please contribute any amount you can right now to keep my message on TV and help us get out the vote.
Thanks so much for your support. I need it now more than ever.
