Lucas,
Here’s the good news: 248,000 jobs were created in America last month – the 55th consecutive month of private sector job growth since the Great Recession. Over that time, over 10 million total jobs have been created.
That’s remarkable progress, and it’s a testament to the recovery investments we made during President Obama’s first term.
Now, here’s the bad news: too many jobs don’t pay a living wage. Too many don’t provide basic benefits, like paid sick leave. Too many don’t provide equal pay for equal work. And still, too many Americans who want a job can’t find one.
Our work to jumpstart the middle class is unfinished, and this shutdown, do-nothing Republican Congress is standing in the way.
Democrats have a plan.
We’ll raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour, and peg annual raises to the cost of living.
We’ll reward companies that create jobs in America, and close tax loopholes for those that ship jobs overseas.
We’ll pass a fair pay law to make sure women earn the same as men for the same work.
And we’ll reinvest in America’s infrastructure, creating jobs fixing our crumbling roads and bridges.
America is making progress, but the middle class is still hurting. We can’t afford to waste time suing the President, shutting down the government, and kicking the can down the road. It’s time to once again put the middle class first. That’s why this election is so important.
Thank you for getting involved!
