STAY ENGAGED

Lucas,

Thank you!

It was the honor of a lifetime to run for Montana's lone representative in the U.S. House. While the numbers didn't break our way on Tuesday night, we ran a great campaign on Montana ideas for the future and we did it with integrity and heart. We gave it everything we had to give but the national wave created currents even the best team in the country couldn't overcome.

I'm grateful beyond compare for your support. We knew it was an uphill climb from the beginning and I never would have come within striking distance without you. Most of all, thank you for believing in me.

I'm going to ask you for one more favor: please don't forget that our work together adds up to a lot we can be proud of.

We ran a campaign focused on Montana, with over 70 percent of our funds coming from Montanans. We debated five times across the state and gave voters an honest opportunity to compare the candidates in person. We earned the endorsements of major Montana newspapers, like The Billings Gazette, the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, and the Helena Independent Record. We ran a campaign on substantive solutions to get Congress working again and cleaning up the special interest mess in Washington.

I encourage all Montanans to stay engaged on issues that we highlighted during this campaign, like protecting access to our public lands, investing in infrastructure and education, and holding members of Congress accountable.

When I was in high school, my football team only one won game in three years. While our single victory was certainly memorable, what stuck with me were some of the important values of never giving up hope, picking up your teammates when they're down and knowing that hard work and integrity are noble endeavors even if the chips don't fall your way.

I am so humbled to have had you in my corner during this campaign. I look forward to soon thanking you in person for your support.

Best,

John Lewis
