Lucas,
Tuesday was a historic day and a very emotional day. As I cast my final
vote as a candidate on the ballot, I was reminded of why I first ran for
Congress 43 years ago. With the same passion and fervor, I reaffirm my
unwavering commitment to serving my constituents who have entrusted me
to continue fighting for what we all want: equal opportunity to live a
better life and leave a better future for our children.
Humbled, proud and fired up by the overwhelming support I received Tuesday,
I will keep raising hell in Congress to demand higher wages, affordable
housing, quality health care, accessible education, and fair immigration
policies for the people of New York's 13th Congressional District
and all across America.
To my beloved community of Harlem, El Barrio, Washington Heights, Inwood
and the Bronx, and Alma, my beautiful wife of 50 years, thank you for
the honor.
Thank you,

Charles B. Rangel
Member of Congress
