Dear Lucas,
This Veterans Day, please join me in honoring our brave servicemembers
and the immense sacrifices that they and their families have made to protect
our safety and freedom.
One of our most sacred obligations as a country is to make sure our veterans
are cared for properly when they return home. Too many service men and
women face a backlog of disability benefits claims, an inadequate health
care system, or difficulty securing stable employment as they transition
back into civilian life.
I want to thank our local veterans who have shared their challenges with
me, so that I could forge legislative solutions to help veterans across
the country. I am proud to have authored the bipartisan PROMPT Act, which
was signed into law, to ensure that veterans avoid excessive delays in
receiving the medals they've earned through courageous service to
our country.
Additionally, my amendments for an additional $10 million for suicide
prevention awareness and outreach for servicemembers and $5 million to
strengthen the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program successfully passed
and were signed into law.
Join me in giving thanks to our brave heroes for their immeasurable sacrifice.
Thank you,
Elizabeth
