Having served as the Chair and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on the Constitution, I know that we need leaders like Charlie Rangel to achieve the progressive goals that we've been fighting for for decades. We need leaders like him to bring about real criminal justice reform, and to continue to protect our civil rights and civil liberties.
He's been front and center on those issues, standing up for New Yorkers. Whether it's combating racial profiling or providing critical dollars for drug treatment, Charlie Rangel has been there.

Charlie has a wealth of experience and a record of effectiveness in passing vital, progressive legislation to help his constituents and all New Yorkers. He's been a leader in enacting landmark laws around economic justice, affordable housing, mass transit and health care.
Republicans in Congress would be thrilled to see him go -- he stands up and challenges them so effectively. We Democrats would sorely miss his leadership, too.
