At the beginning of March, I announced my campaign for Congress at the one place that's at the heart of who I am: my mother's house. For me, everything I've done in public service has been based on one guiding principle: it's not about politics, it's about my family, my friends and my community – it's personal.

I'm fighting for this seat because this Congress is broken – the kind of broken that hits home. We deserve a Congressman who will fight for us every single day. When I'm in Washington, I will be fighting for the hopes and dreams of the people I'm there to represent: you.
