28 MILLION

Tell Congress: Raise the minimum wage! Sign the petition.Lucas -

28 million.

That's how many hardworking Americans would have received a raise – if Republicans in Congress hadn't once again blocked a bill to raise the minimum wage.

The federal minimum wage has been stuck at just $7.25 an hour for over four years now, even as the cost of living continues to rise.

The result? Millions of Americans are working full-time jobs to support their families and yet still find themselves living in poverty.

The economic security of these families – our neighbors, our friends, our relatives – hangs in the balance every day that Congress fails to act. That's why I am standing with members of New York's delegation today to demand that Republicans in Congress, like my opponent Chris Gibson, end their opposition and vote to raise the minimum wage immediately.

I strongly believe in the notion that if you work hard, you should be able to earn enough to afford the basics for your family.

This shouldn't be a controversial position – and it turns out it isn't one. 71% of Americans support this common sense proposal that would not only lift working families out of poverty, but also provide a boost to our communities and the economy.

By continuing to block a minimum wage increase, Republicans in Congress are proving once again how staggeringly out of step they are with the American people. They're listening to the special interests, not the vast majority of Americans.

That's why they need to hear from all of us on this. Please take a quick moment right now to add your voice:

Tell Republicans in Congress: Raise the minimum wage now.

Thank you for taking a stand on this,

Sean
