Office of the President-Elect
Dear Lucas:
During the next few months, I will be appointing members to committees of the New York State Bar Association. As part of this process, I invite you to nominate yourself or someone else to serve. Our committees play a vital role in the work of our Association and provide an excellent opportunity to get more involved in the Association and to help achieve our goals of promoting reform in the law and serving the administration of justice. Most committee meetings can be attended by telephone conference, but some willingness to travel to meeting sites (commonly Albany or New York City) may be necessary for some committees.
Please consider applying to serve on a committee or recommending a colleague for such service.
• To volunteer to serve on a committee, please download the PDF volunteer form, fill it out and mail or fax it to the Bar Association. (If you already serve on a committee, you do not need to reapply for that committee.)
• To nominate someone else to serve on a committee, please download and fill out the PDF.
All applications are due no later than April 1, 2014. Please state why you or the person that you have nominated is both interested and qualified to serve on the committee. This information is very helpful to me and significant in the appointment process. If the application is not complete, you will receive a request for additional information.
Some of our committees receive a large number of applicants. While we make every effort to place members on committees, in some cases we are unable to accommodate every request.
The Association is committed to achieving diversity in all of its activities, including committee membership. You will find three questions relating to diversity in the application materials; while this information is completely optional, I hope you will assist us in realizing our commitment to diversity by providing this information.
One of my goals in the year ahead is to maximize participation by our diverse and capable membership so that the Association can achieve new levels of excellence. Thank you for considering this opportunity to serve our profession.
Sincerely,
Glenn Lau-Kee, President-Elect
