Lucas,
We talk a lot about how there aren't enough women in Congress.
But that's not the only problem we're facing. Right now, there's only one Democratic woman governor in the entire country.
Yes, you read that correctly. ONE.
That's why EMILY's List is committed to supporting strong gubernatorial candidates in 2014. Mary Burke in Wisconsin and Gina Raimondo in Rhode Island are both smart, experienced candidates who can help balance the scales in November -- and they need our help.
Here's why we picked these two races:
- Former Wisconsin Commerce Secretary Mary Burke has spent her entire career creating jobs and educational opportunities for Wisconsin families. She's exactly the sort of change Wisconsin needs from Scott Walker, the state's scandal-ridden, ultra-right-wing governor. Walker has never been so vulnerable, and Mary needs our help to fight back right now.
- Gina Raimondo, Rhode Island's state treasurer, is another rising star who tackles the tough issues. An entrepreneur, a businesswoman, and even a Rhodes Scholar, she knows how to bring economic development to Rhode Island. But Gina's got a crowded Democratic primary right now, and she needs our help to fill Rhode Island's open gubernatorial seat.
EMILY's List has been there since day one for both Mary and Gina, helping them build the grassroots campaigns they need to win.
Let's change those numbers,
Kate Black
