STOP THIS HATEFUL RHETORIC

Lucas --

Republican South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard just signed a law banning discrimination against specific breeds of dogs.

But Daugaard is refusing to say where he stands on discrimination against people.

Just recently, one of Daugaard's Republican allies in the legislature – state Sen. Phil Jensen – told the Rapid City Journal "that businesses should have the right to deny service based on a customer's race or religion." Jensen filed a bill to allow just that, and Gov. Daugaard is refusing to stand up to him.

Please sign our petition demanding that Gov. Daugaard denounce Sen. Jensen's hateful pro-discrimination rhetoric!

In his interview, Jensen used the example of "a member of the Ku Klux Klan running a little bakery" and said that discrimination is merely "free speech" he wants to protect.

But what about the rights of citizens discriminated against? Don't they deserve protection too?

Discrimination has no place in 21st Century America – tell Gov. Daugaard to denounce extremist Republicans like Sen. Jensen!

Thanks for taking a stand,

Michael Sargeant
Executive Director
Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee

P.S. It's clear that the extreme voices within the Republican Party are only getting worse. For the good of our country, we need your help right now to call out Sen. Jensen's hateful rhetoric and hold him accountable.
