GIVE CATS A SECOND CHANCE

By the time Mojave was five years old, he had seen more than most cats will in a lifetime. Raised in the home of a cat hoarder, the tabby spent his early years competing for basic necessities like food, love and attention.

Mojave also suffered from three very rare conditions, including a birth defect in which the eyelids do not form properly, that left him with chronic pain, irritation and a perpetual squint.

Fortunately, Mojave's conditions were no match for Dr. J'mai Gayle, Director of Surgery at the ASPCA. Dr. Gayle performed a series of carefully staged surgeries, including the construction of completely new eyelids, to treat all three of Mojave's conditions.

During his recovery, Mojave served as a therapy cat at the ASPCA Animal Hospital, mentoring newly admitted felines and helping them adjust to being around other cats and people. Behaviorists even clicker-trained him to "sit" and "high-five!" He healed beautifully and was quickly adopted into a loving home.

When you contribute to the ASPCA, you are giving animals like Mojave a second chance. Your support enables us to continue these life-changing rescues, surgeries and rehabilitations, and we—and the animals—would be lost without you.
