A DIFFERENT KIND OF RUN

Dear Lucas,

This Sunday, 20,000 New Yorkers will run 13.1 Miles in the NYC Half Marathon. Many of them will be running to raise funds for important causes. I'd like to call your attention to two such runners, and ask you to join me in supporting them.

Josh Silverstein, whom many of you will know from my recent campaign and many other fights for social justice throughout NYC, is running to raise funds for the Huntington's Disease Society of America. Their mission is to help find a cure and help those who are affected by this devastating neurological disorder and their families. Please join me in supporting Josh in this run at: http://www.crowdrise.com/joshsnychalfforhd.

Erica Kagan, is a colleague and a superb civil rights attorney. I've been honored to work alongside her for almost five years. She will be running this Sunday for the DeGregorio Family Foundation, which supports early detection and treatment of gastric and esophageal cancers, two of the deadliest but most under-recognized tumor types. Please join me in supporting Erica in this run at: http://www.degregorio.org/wp/?page=CiviCRM&q=civicrm%2Fpcp%2Finfo&reset=1&id=43

I'll also be cheering on Erica, Josh and the thousands of New Yorkers running this race. Sunday promises to be a beautiful day, so pick a spot along the 13.1-mile route, and give your moral support.

Thank you.

Yours,

Yetta [Kurland]
