Dear Lucas:
I would like to wish a very happy Father's Day to you and your family. It is a holiday with an interesting history, first celebrated statewide in 1910 in Washington thanks to the efforts of Sonora Smart Dodd. She was one of six children and wished to honor her single dad, a widower.
My father was always a hero to me. He encouraged me at every step, telling me I could be anything I wanted in life if I was willing to work hard enough. I know my daughters feel the same way about their dad.
I hope you're able to enjoy time today with loved ones and appreciate all that our dads do for us.
