Did you realize that, right now, there are ZERO black Republicans in the
U.S. House?
It seems like there should be more, doesn't it? When you think of
some of the rockstar black Republicans we've had in the House like
Rep. J. C. Watts, Rep. Allen West, and now-Senator Tim Scott, it seems
like there would be more. But with West's recent defeat and Scott's
elevation to the Senate, there is no longer a single black Republican
in the U.S. House.
Shocking, isn't it?
I'm ready to change that.
It's time to show the world that conservatism isn't just for old
white men - it's for everyone, regardless of race, sex, or creed. We need to start that conversation with some new faces. That need is a
big part of why I decided to run for Congress.
With your help, I will be a force for Republican minority outreach in Congress.
Will you help me get there?
I'm no cookie-cutter Republican, that's for sure. I'm a proud
black conservative who supports the Tea Party. I'm a believer in the
Constitution of this great nation, and the principles of our Founders.
I'm a legal immigrant who will unabashedly argue to secure our borders
first, and implement an immigration system that does not ignore justice
in the name of compassion.
We need to show America that fighting back against a government that has
overstepped it's bounds, has nothing to do with the color of your
skin or where you were born - it's just common sense. But our message
isn't getting through to so many communities that desperately need
to hear it.
Why? The Left knows that if their stranglehold can be broken on minority
and immigrant voters, they are done for. They fear Senator Tim Scott.
They fear Governors Bobby Jindal and Nikki Haley, because people like
us shatter their stereotypes. And they spent millions in special-interest
attack ads to destroy Allen West.
As a member of both minority and immigrant communities, I can testify
that our values are the same: faith, family, and the hope of a better
life for our children, grandchildren and beyond. We just need the right
messenger to bridge the divide, and show the common ground. I'm ready
to serve as that messenger.
I am under no illusions: I know this is painting a target on my back.
If there's one thing the Left can't stand, it's a black conservative.
I've seen how liberal racism has been tried and FAILED, against black
conservative leaders like Clarence Thomas, Herman Cain, Allen West, and
Dr. Ben Carson. These men inspire me every day, no matter how much mud
the Democrats and their allies throw at me. And you know what? I'm
ready for it. I've got the fight, the strength, and the fortitude
to take this battle right to the Democrats, and to teach them a lesson
they won't forget.
We need more witnesses in Washington that can be living proof that our
movement is built on proven principles, and is not just about old, rich,
white men. Right now, in the House of Representatives, we have zero witnesses
to that fact.
Zero is not good enough. I won't stand for that number to stay that low.
