TRANSITIONING TO CLEAN ENERGY

Lucas,

Proposed regulations on carbon will hurt American consumers and wreak havoc on the economy.

That's the dirty energy company line when it comes to efforts to reduce harmful pollutants from our atmosphere.

It's false.

We have the technology and solutions to transition to a clean energy economy in a way that creates jobs and does not result in higher energy prices for consumers.

And the transition to a clean energy economy starts with putting restrictions on power plants that account for 40 percent of U.S. carbon pollution.

Tell the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that you support limits on carbon pollution from power plants.

Big polluters have been using the same "sky is falling" rhetoric for the past 40 years in an effort to thwart Clean Air Act regulations.

But instead of causing our economy to collapse, the Clean Air Act has resulted, among other things, in trillions of dollars in health benefits for our nation.

Now the EPA is attempting to act on its authority to regulate carbon, but it won't be able to implement effective standards without strong public support.

Encourage the EPA to adopt effective regulations on polluting power sources.

In a just a few days, President Barack Obama will make the State of the Union address before the nation.

And the dirty energy industry is already lining up its allies in Congress to blast the administration's action to reduce carbon emissions — the House Energy and Commerce Committee has scheduled, just hours before the address, the mark up of a bill that takes aim at the EPA's authority to regulate carbon.

Show your support for action on climate change.

Together we can drown out dirty energy's doomsday claims to get meaningful action on climate change and imperative consumer and public health safeguards.
