President Obama's Iran nukes deal is a train wreck.
Don't just take my word for it. Just this week, pro-administration commentator Fareed Zakaria used those exact words (video here) to characterize the accord - the full text of which the Obama administration has refused to release.
Zakaria observed that American and Iranian claims about the so-called 'interim agreement' are "miles apart." Iranian President Rouhani flatly says that there will be no destruction of centrifuges, while Obama's representatives claim otherwise.
The glaring deficiencies of Obama's Iran deal only bolster the case for S. 1881, the Nuclear Weapons Free Iran Act - which would ensure that Iran is hit with stronger sanctions if it refuses to comply with international obligations. The administration's inability to defend its diplomatic handiwork reinforces our determination to push that bill to passage. Please renew your support with the RJC so we can keep the pressure on.
When S. 1881 was first introduced last month, it had the support of 14 Democrats and 13 Republicans in the Senate. The RJC and its members across the country worked hard to attract cosponsors for the bill and are proud that 43 of 45 Republicans Senators (95%) have signed on as cosponsors. In stark contrast, only 16 of 55 Democrats (29%) have cosponsored the bill.
We've said all along that Obama and his team could not be trusted to protect our national security and stand by our ally, Israel. The RJC will continue to advocate for S. 1881 because we can't give this administration a blank check to continue with a diplomatic strategy that looks more and more like outright appeasement with each passing day.
Please renew your membership today so we can continue to keep the pressure on, make sure our message is heard, and be prepared for future battles.
Thanks,
