Want to know where ground zero is for the GOP War on Women? The State House.
Just in the past three years, there have been 205 abortion restrictions put into law. Think about that for a minute. Two hundred and five restrictions on American women's right to choose what's best for their lives. Not only is this downright shocking, it's unprecedented.
Health care clinics are shutting their doors because of drastic funding cuts and restrictive legislation. Women are being forced to drive hundreds of miles just to get the care that they need – all at the hands of GOP governors and their state legislatures.
Luckily, Democratic women like Wendy Davis in Texas and Mary Burke in Wisconsin have stepped up to take on ousting these anti-woman, anti-family governors.
Republicans think they have the momentum, and because they haven't yet succeeded in overturning Roe v. Wade they are taking away our freedom one piece of ALEC-designed legislation after another – from mandatory ultrasounds to massive defunding of local Planned Parenthood clinics.
I say we show them that we refuse to be sent back to pre-Roe 1970's. American women deserve better.
Let's do this.
