25% of cats in the United States are declawed. This painful procedure performed for pet owners’ convenience lacks medical benefits and has long-term health complications for animals. Increased awareness has resulted in declawing bans in several cities. A screening of the documentary “The Paw Project” will be followed by a discussion of the legal and ethical issues surrounding this practice.
