BAN OIL EXPORTS?

Lucas,

Big Oil, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Senator Lisa Murkowski, Republican of Alaska …

Do you think you're going to like the rest of this sentence?

… want to end the ban on exports of crude oil from the U.S., which would lead to higher gasoline prices for consumers and further boost profits for oil producers.

And the Obama administration might just give them what they want.

Tell U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz to keep the crude oil export ban in place.

In several interviews last month, Secretary Moniz expressed interest in reevaluating the export ban.

The oil majors and their allies want to remove the ban altogether so they can move their polluting product faster and generate even more profits.

But lifting that ban would raise domestic gas prices and undermine President Obama's plan to slow climate disruption.

We can't let the administration end this important, time-tested consumer protection to appease corporate greed.

Sign the petition demanding that Secretary Moniz act in the interest of the American people, not Big Oil.

The American Petroleum Institute just announced that getting the oil export ban lifted is one of its top priorities for 2014. Keeping the ban in place is one of ours.

Public Citizen is among the few progressive organizations taking on this issue. And we are going to need your help to stop these powerful adversaries.

Stay tuned for more on this critical campaign,
