An Exclusive Conversation on Real Estate Investing and the Global Economy

The Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute, part of the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College will host billionaire philanthropist and industrialist Alex Rovt, President and CEO of IBE Trade Corporation, for a conversation regarding his recent all-cash $303 million purchase of New York’s iconic, ziggurat-topped Bankers Trust Building at 14 Wall Street. The event, which is scheduled for 8 a.m. – 10 a.m., Thursday, January 30, provides a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about strategic real estate investing from one of America’s most successful industrialists.

“This interview will provide a rare opportunity to learn more about a man whose genius, intuition, remarkable timing and ability to seize opportunity have made him a respected force in the international business community. Mr. Rovt’s acquisition of 14 Wall Street was a stellar example of how he converged his keen understanding of real estate, our city, the global markets and our economy to forge a new strategic direction for his next area of investment opportunity,” said Jack S. Nyman, Executive Director of the Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute. “The importance of this event is to gain valuable real estate and business insight from a global thinker who lives on the international playing field. What better way to do this than through a man of Mr. Rovt’s success and character.”

Nyman will moderate the discussion with Alex Rovt, regarding his international perspective on a variety of topics, including:

• foreign investment and how it relates to Manhattan
• what lower Manhattan means to him
• leveraging as a component to our real estate system
• the challenges and importance of landmarking
• the New York and global economies
• the role of the middle class in strengthening America
• what his faith has taught him about land, gold and cash

Alex Rovt built his fortune as CEO of the global fertilizer giant, IBE Trade Corporation. He is ranked 372nd in Forbes’ list of the 400 wealthiest Americans and is the owner of more than 23 properties around New York City and many European holdings.
