WORK FOR ANIMALS

Dear Animal Advocates,

In a nation as diverse as ours, it's worth remembering that as different as our political views may be, there is common ground. More than half of U.S. homes include at least one pet, and most of us—including politicians!—care deeply about the humane treatment of animals. That's why we want to tell you about the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus and ask you to tell your legislator in the U.S. House of Representatives about it.

A congressional caucus is a group of representatives who have opted to pursue common interests and objectives. There are caucuses dedicated to all sorts of themes and topics, and we are happy that there is one focused specifically on animal welfare.

A bipartisan group co-chaired by Reps. Jim Moran (D-VA) and John Campbell (R-CA), the 83-member Congressional Animal Protection Caucus:

• Highlights important issues affecting animals, educates members and their staffs on the need for sensible animal protection legislation, and provides members with dependable information on animal welfare issues.
• Partners with animal welfare organizations like the ASPCA to sponsor briefings and events.
• Builds broad coalitions in support of commonsense, humane animal welfare laws.

Think of the Animal Protection Caucus as a voice within the U.S. House—as it becomes stronger and more active, our chances to pass animal-friendly legislation increase.

Legislators on both sides of the aisle care about animals. Help us capitalize on this common ground by urging your member of Congress to join the Animal Protection Caucus and get involved in improving the welfare of our nation's animals.

What You Can Do

We hope that your representative will want to join the Caucus once he/she learns about it and hears that it's important to you as a constituent. You can help by visiting the ASPCA Advocacy Center, where we make it easy for you to contact your U.S. representative and ask him or her to join the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus.

On behalf of all of America's animals, and our efforts to protect them, we thank you!
