By now you've heard pundits issue their dire predictions: Republicans
could take control of the Senate this November.
But here's what they're not talking about: if Democrats lose our
majority and the Senate firewall, there will be real consequences for women.
Instead of fighting for equal pay for equal work and to increase the minimum
wage, we'll be back on defense — defending basic freedoms like
access to birth control and reproductive health care against Republican attacks.
We need to raise $200,000 by the end of August to help our pro-choice Democrats
win their elections and protect the Senate. Donate $3 right now to help
elect women like Alison Lundergan Grimes and Senators Kay Hagan and Jeanne Shaheen.
Last year, anti-choice Republicans pushed legislation across the country
that forced record numbers of women's health clinics to shut their
doors. And earlier this summer, the conservative Supreme Court ruled in
Hobby Lobby that employers can deny women coverage for birth control.
We founded EMILY's List nearly 30 years ago to elect pro-choice Democratic
women who could be our voice in government. That mission has never been
more urgent.
If we wait until October to support our candidates, we're stepping
aside to allow the Republicans to unravel everything we've fought
