Lucas--
Your father doubles over in pain. Fearing he's having a heart attack, you rush him to the emergency room for treatment that could mean the difference between life and death. You're asked for proof of insurance, which you don't have. As precious minutes go by, the hospital gives you three choices: provide the proof, withdraw cash from an ATM, or watch your father suffer.
This is not a far-fetched scenario. Right-wing Republicans in state legislatures across the nation, including right now in Georgia, are planning to sharply cut back on emergency-care services to reduce the costs of health care.
Cruel as it may seem, those Republicans would gamble on people's lives in the name of cutting health care costs.
Don't let Governor Deal and his GOP allies in the Georgia state legislature get away with denying health care to those in critical need. Click here to add your name to our petition: No One Should Be Denied Emergency Health Care.
Gov. Deal and his extremist allies in the legislature are trying not only to deny emergency access to the poor, but are refusing to expand health care access by rejecting a key part of the Affordable Care Act in Georgia.
No one should be turned away from an emergency room because they can't afford to pay. Click here to add your name to demand that the Georgia GOP cover the poor by expanding Medicaid.
Together we can make a difference.
