THE RED BALLOON

Upon questioning a prison visitor who was carrying a red balloon, officials discovered that the item contained a tan substance which later tested positive for heroin.

After he was found guilty of drug possession, smuggling, and violating visiting procedures, E. Staine opted to challenge the drug possession charge. But the Appellate Division, Third Department, ended up affirming that determination due to the "substantial evidence"--the misbehavior report, the investigator's testimony, and the positive drug test--which supported the finding of guilt.

Now that's a Staine.
