Do you want to save the world?
Join forces with us for your chance to be a hero!
President Barack Obama travels to Asia this week with the goal of reviving the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). After four years, TPP negotiations are deadlocked over scores of sensitive issues, and opposition is growing here and in other countries.
Whether or not any real deal is made, some sort of "breakthrough" almost certainly will be announced. That is because the U.S-Japan summit is viewed as a do-or-die moment to try to inject momentum into the TPP process. Familiarity with kabuki theatre may be useful in interpreting the actual summit outcomes on the TPP.
That is why it's up to you to make sure the world knows the real story.
Use our new action page to send Twitter and Facebook messages to mainstream media outlets telling them to cover Fast Track and the TPP. The world cannot be kept in the dark any longer.
The corporate lobby is continuing its crusade for Fast Track, which would let the president sign the TPP before Congress votes on it and then railroad it through Congress with limited debate and no amendments.
Thanks to your activism, the majority of House Democrats have publicly opposed Fast Track. There are, however, a few representatives who still have not taken a position. Corporate lobbyists are trolling the halls of Congress trying to scoop up votes for Fast Track and the TPP.
You can also help get the message to Congress. Make sure your voice speaks louder than the campaign money.
Join us all this week as we Tweet and Facebook message these last holdout members of Congress to tell them to say "NO" to Fast Track now.
If we all stand together, we will have more power than Captain America, Superman, Wonder Woman and Spiderman combined.
And of course, with great power comes great responsibility...
Save the world. Stop Fast Track.
Thanks for taking action today,
Melanie Foley
