Lucas,
I recently met with students and staff members from area colleges about the impact of proposals to cut funding for student aid. Pell Grants help millions of college students afford a college education, without going into large amounts of debt – including more than 20,000 students right here in the 17th district.
However, the Ryan Budget, which recently passed the House, would drastically cut funding for Pell Grants over the next 10 years, leaving many students in a tight spot, potentially unable to attend or complete college.
We can't allow this to happen. Will you join me and call on Congress to make sure that any budget proposal preserves access to higher education funding?
The Ryan Budget would also cut funding for Subsidized Stafford Loans adding thousands of dollars to each loan. These vital student aid programs have made a huge difference in helping low and middle-income families to send their kids to college, and cutting these programs could be devastating for millions of families and students.
Add your name now to call on Congress to protect student aid in any proposed budget – our children and grandchildren's futures are too important to play politics with.
Thank you,
Nita?
