Happy Labor Day.
Today is the day we reflect on the sacrifices of those people who fought for our right to be treated with decency and dignity in the workplace.
The right to organize was not a given, and neither were the minimum wage, child labor laws or the right to work without sexual harassment. Each of these advances was the result of people who organized, sacrificed and stood up for working people.
On this Labor Day our campaign is proud to announce a half dozen high powered national and local endorsements including AFSCME, New York State Senator Bill Perkins, U.S. Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, U.S. Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema, the New York State Higher Education PAC, and the Educational Justice PAC.
All of these groups and individuals have stood up for the working New Yorkers, educators and labor unions who make our city work each day.
