THEY WON'T TAKE A BREAK

Lucas,

Congress just got back from their annual summer vacation -- but Mitch McConnell's Republican Party sure didn't take a single day off from their attacks on women and families.

They've come after Alison Lundergan Grimes with sexist attacks on her qualifications. They've shuffled their election dates in Georgia to try to come up with a less absurd challenger to Michelle Nunn.

It's been a crazy couple months, but we can't dwell on the negative -- because we've had an amazing response from all of you in the last several weeks!

You've put our women candidates like Alison and Michelle in a great place with thousands and thousands of contributions. You've supported EMILY's List in unprecedented numbers. We're on the path to victory over McConnell's GOP and all their anti-woman tactics. But even when we're doing well, we can't take a break. So keep up the fight now and take a moment to make a contribution to EMILY's List.

With everything we've got going for us and our women, you should give yourself a major pat on the back. Thank you for everything you do -- now enjoy some News From The Field!

All the best,

Amy K. Dacey
Executive Director, EMILY's List

Hey Team Mitch: Calling Alison Lundergan Grimes "an empty dress" is NOT how you win women

In the most recent #GOPHeartsLadies incident: A Republican spokesman for #TeamMitch, referred to Alison Lundergan Grimes as an "empty dress." How much more misogynistic can #TeamMitch get?

To make matters worse, instead of condemning the extremely sexist remark, Mitch McConnell's team dismissed the comment as a "common alliteration." (FYI to #TeamMitch, an actual example of alliteration is, ironically, "Mitch McConnell." Just saying.)

Join us in demanding that Mitch McConnell and his team condemn this substance-free anti-woman insult. Sign your name now!

American Women, an EMILY's List affiliated organization, Launches With New Data About Women

EMILY's List is excited about the launch of American Women, an affiliated organization dedicated to amplifying the voices of women across the nation. American Women's goal is to raise awareness of the needs, values, attitudes, and beliefs of women with regard to the critical issues facing the nation.

Already, the research findings are astounding. After online discussions with women, 60% of responded that they feel women have a harder time than men getting ahead. And unfortunately, more and more women are saying that they are "living paycheck-to-paycheck." With the help of American Women, women's issues in America will be brought to the forefront of the conversation across the nation.

Senator Giron vs. the NRA war chest

In case you haven't heard about the ridiculous recall election taking place today in Colorado, State Senator Angela Giron has been fighting tooth and nail to protect her seat -- all because she bravely casted the deciding vote for commonsense gun safety legislation. Now the NRA is trying to make an example out of Angela and force her out of office by pumping in hundreds of thousands of dollars of outside money.

Angela rose up in leadership with the support of the EMILY's List Political Opportunity Program and has been standing up for women and families over her 30 years of public service. She's fought to pass same-day voter registration, increase funding for education, and expand high-quality health care coverage.

We're not sitting this out. EMILY's List staff is on the ground right now, fighting to get out every last vote for Angela. Take a look at this great action shot from the road!

New York City is ready for its first Madam Mayor!

It's crunch time. Today, voters go to the polls in the crucial Democratic primary election for New York City Mayor. Christine Quinn has continuously shown that she is a true advocate for women and families in NYC. Our fantastic EMILY's List president, Stephanie Schriock, summed it up perfectly in a recent op-ed: "[New York City] requires a leader who knows the city needs to work for everyone living in it -- male, female, gay, straight, rich, poor, Mets, Yankees. That leader is Chris Quinn."

We thank you for the continuous support!
